Overview

Topical analgesic and flavoring agent supplied as a steam-distilled essential oil from the leaves of Syzygium aromaticum (CAS 8000-34-8). It presents as a clear, pale yellow to brownish-yellow liquid with a characteristic spicy odor, is miscible with ethanol and fixed oils, soluble in propylene glycol, and practically insoluble in water and glycerin, and requires storage in tightly closed, light-resistant containers to prevent oxidation and darkening.
