Myrrh (; from Aramaic, but see § Etymology) is a natural gum or resin extracted from a number of small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora. Myrrh resin has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense, and medicine. Myrrh tincture, derived from the resin of the Commiphora molmol tree, has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. It is commonly used as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent, and is also known for its ability to promote wound healing and relieve pain. Myrrh tincture is often used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of conditions, including sore throat, cough, and digestive issues. It can also be used topically to treat skin conditions such as eczema and acne.
