Overview

Volatile essential oil and pharmaceutical excipient obtained by steam distillation of the flowering aerial parts of Rosmarinus officinalis (CAS 8000-25-7). It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic camphoraceous aroma, is soluble in ethanol and fixed oils, practically insoluble in water, and requires storage in well-filled, light-resistant containers protected from heat.
